Five days ago, the moving average of Covid deaths in the country is below 200

The moving average of deaths from Covid-19 in Brazil has been below 200 for five days, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass). This Friday (19), the average recorded is 158.

The indexes for the last few days were, respectively: 173, 175, 176 and 199.

The moving average considers the last seven days and serves to monitor the indicators of the epidemiological situation in the country without any distortions caused by underreporting on weekends.

In the last 24 hours, Conass counted 18,863 new Covid infections, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 34,264,237. The seven-day moving average of cases stands at 16,587.

Regarding deaths, there are 682,358 fatal victims of the disease so far. In the last period, 142 deaths were recorded.

Sequelae of Covid-19

For about 65% of Brazilians, the Covid-19 infection caused sequelae, which include loss of smell and taste. The data are from a national survey called Covitel, which more broadly assesses risk factors for chronic noncommunicable diseases by telephone.

In all, nine thousand Brazilians, from capitals and cities in the interior of the five regions of Brazil, were interviewed by telephone (landline and mobile).
