Five people were killed and 24 others injured this morning in a building collapse in a Cairo district.
“The government crisis room was informed at 3 a.m. about the collapse of a building consisting of a basement, ground floor and nine floors,” in the Gesr Suez district of eastern Cairo, the government said in a statement.
According to the announcement, five people were killed and 24 were injured without specifying whether this is the final toll of the victims.
Many buildings have collapsed in recent years in Egypt, resulting in many people losing their lives due to their poor condition and non-compliance with construction legislation in cities.
