Five suspected members of a criminal faction ended up dead after an exchange of gunfire with the Bahia Military Police, in the early hours of this Friday (27), in Santo Amaro, in Recôncavo Baiano.
The action, led by the 20th Independent Military Police Company (CIPM), would have managed to thwart an armed attack between rival factions in the region.
According to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Bahia, the group that was preparing to attack drug traffickers from another faction, even published photos and videos showing firearms on social media.
The incident took place in the Polivalente neighborhood, where the police intercepted the group.
During the operation, five drug dealers reacted to the police approach, which resulted in an armed confrontation. They were all shot and, although they were rescued, they did not survive their injuries. Police seized weapons and ammunition from the suspects.
The teams reported that they continue to search the region, as the group was made up of around 20 heavily armed men.
The Public Security Secretariat of the State of Bahia asks the population for help in providing information via Hotline Denúncia, on 181. The call is free and the secretariat guarantees the confidentiality of the complaint.
