Five United Nations Humanitarian Humanity Agency employees for Palestinians, Unrwa, have been killed in recent days, the agency’s general commissioner Philippe Lazzarini said on Thursday (20).
“In recent days, five more Unrwa employees have been confirmed dead, raising the number of victims to 284. They were teachers, doctors and nurses: serving the most vulnerable,” he said in a statement published in X.
Lazzarini said to fear that the worst is yet to come, as Israeli bombings continue to land and sea, as well as an ongoing earthly invasion.
On Wednesday (19), the United Nations Secretary-General condemned attacks on the organization’s staff after a member of the United Nations Project Service Office died when two UN guest houses in Deir Al Balah were hit by attacks.
He added in a statement by his spokesman that all parties involved in Israel’s attack Gaza knew where UN facilities were.
