Five USB 3.2, a pair of USB-C, up to three RJ45 and old processors in a new wrapper. Gigabyte Brix Extreme Mini PC Introduced

Gigabyte’s range of mini-PCs has been expanded with new models from the Brix Extreme line.

New items have received catalog numbers GB-GER-5xxx. In total, the company offers eight modifications that differ in processors and some other aspects.

It is based on the Ryzen 5000U APUs represented by the Ryzen 3 5300U, Ryzen 5 5500U, and Ryzen 7 5700U. Unfortunately, all three processors are actually improved and renamed versions of the Ryzen 4000U, as they are based on the Zen 2 architecture. However, their performance is still quite high. At the same time, interestingly, on the Gigabyte website, on the general description page, you can see the following description.

That is, here the company talks about the Ryzen 5000U on the Zen 3 architecture, without specifying that the processors of the same line used in these mini-PCs are based on Zen 2. From a certain point of view, this can be considered as cheating buyers. At the same time, the Zen 2 architecture is clearly indicated on the specification page.

It can also be noted that these mini-PCs were among the first to receive an AMD RZ608 module with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. On the company’s website, all new items are presented in the form of Barebone kits. As for the possibilities of forming configurations, there are two slots for RAM, two slots for SSD format M.2 2280.

It also has a decent selection of ports. On the front, there are USB-C 3.2 and three USB-A 3.2. At the back there are two more USB-A 3.2 and one USB-C 3.2 already with DisplayPort support, there are also a pair of HDMI 2.0b, mini-DisplayPort and RJ45. One of the configurations offers a slightly taller chassis with an additional pair of RJ45 connectors and space for a 2.5-inch drive up to 7mm thick.
