Fjords in Norway bring together Viking traditions and landscapes with waterfalls

imagine fjords as far as the eye can see, with arms of the sea entering through green slopes and from where it is possible to see streams of water falling from waterfalls up there. Now think of small towns at the foot of all this scenery that preserve Viking traditions and a very unique culture. Because this is the reality in some parts of the Norway a Scandinavian country where, often, the force of nature reigns.

All these landscapes were pleasant surprises during my journey through Scandinavia for the 7th season of CNN Travel & Gastronomy. The strategic stops were only possible thanks to Silver Dawn a Silversea Cruises cruise with an off-the-beaten-path itinerary and excellent gastronomic service, which crossed Norway towards Copenhagen, Denmark.

My adventure began in the city of Tromsø the northernmost point of Norway, considered the gateway to the Arctic, as it is an impressive 400 kilometers above the Arctic Circle. Then I extended the trip to High which has a cathedral dedicated to the Northern Lights – and where winter nights seem to last forever.

On board the Silver Dawn, I went down the country and anchored in places like Sortland , Flam It is Bergen before setting sail for Copenhagen. These were unforgettable days marked by breathtaking landscapes and exceptional discoveries, including a visit to the famous Norwegian salmon farm, experiences in a Viking village, “bathing” in a waterfall over 100 meters high and, of course, the fascination caused by the fjords.
