The images show that several roads in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, mainly in the central region and the north, are still under water. The runway and passenger terminal at Salgado Filho airport are also submerged.

There is still no forecast of when the airport will reopen. Last Tuesday (14), the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) suspended the sale of airline tickets to and from Salgado Filho.

Also on Tuesday, the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, told CNN that Infraero is “ready” to take over the operation of Caxias do Sul airport, in order to absorb part of the passenger demand from Porto Alegre.

The images taken this Wednesday also show the situation of the Beira-Rio and Arena do Grêmio stadiums.

The Grêmio Arena is still underwater. In Beira-Rio, in Internacional, the water has already receded. Aerial images show that the lawn was significantly damaged due to the flood.

The training centers of Porto Alegre's two main teams are still underwater.

Construction of a “temporary city”

A study is underway at Porto Alegre City Hall to build a “temporary city” to serve families left homeless after the floods. The idea is to welcome approximately 10 thousand people.

According to authorities involved in the project, the structure could be built in the Porto Seco neighborhood, close to the center. The houses would be set up in a complex planned to host carnival parades in the city.
