Flood victims in Pernambuco will receive emergency aid of R$ 1.5 thousand

About 82 thousand families in extreme poverty affected by the rains in Pernambuco will receive an emergency aid of R$ 1.5 thousand, announced on Friday (3) the governor Paulo Câmara. The proposal sent to the Legislative Assembly provides for payment in a single installment.

The governor also announced the submission of a bill to grant the payment of a lifetime pension of a minimum wage to the dependents of the 128 people killed by the floods that hit Pernambuco last week.

Named Auxílio Pernambuco, the R$ 1,500 aid will be paid to families registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) in the 31 municipalities that have declared an emergency situation. The aid project provides for a contribution of R$ 123 million from the state government, which will transfer the money directly to city halls, which will register displaced and homeless families.

Recife

Yesterday afternoon, the mayor of Recife, João Campos, announced an aid of R$ 1 thousand, also paid in a single installment, to families registered with CadÚnico who live in risk and flooding areas recognized by the local Civil Defense.

The mayor also announced a 50% increase in the housing allowance, which will rise from R$200 to R$300. The Recife City Council transferred R$15 million of its own funds to help the city hall’s cash.

Governor Paulo Câmara also declared three days of official mourning for the 128 victims of the rains in the state.

Yesterday, the Fire Department found the body of a missing woman, from Camaragibe, in the metropolitan region of the capital of Pernambuco.

The search, which had the help of firefighters and sniffer dogs from other states, has officially ended.
