The flooding of Petrobras’ headquarters number 2 in Rio de Janeiro, the Senado Building (Edisen), used by the board while the Headquarters Building (Edise) is under construction, provoked an argument on a social network between the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, and the new president of the state-owned company, former senator Jean Paul Prates, on Wednesday night (15).
Paes commented on the news posted by Prates after a meeting with deputies from the Rio de Janeiro bench, including opposition members such as the general and former Minister of Health during the Covid-19 pandemic, Eduardo Pazuello (PL), that he would support actions in the State and in the city, such as the revitalization of Downtown Rio, a project that is taking time to get off the ground.
“Super news, President Jean Paul Prates. Everyone in the face-to-face is already a great advance. Long live our Petrobras!” he joked.
Like other companies after the pandemic, Petrobras is in a hybrid work system, alternating face-to-face days with a home office.
In response, Prates thanked the support, but stressed that the revitalization would be “especially so that our headquarters (Edisen) does not suffer from flooding like in recent days. Clean drains would already be a great advance. The office continues to respect the interests of the company and workers. Long live Rio and count on us!”, said Prates on the social network.
Paes then retorted, stating that “the fortune that the government of our companions spent on this new headquarters included the drainage of the entire region, including the swimming pool. Did they pay and didn’t? Check out an audit? Will it be good?”, attacked Paes.
On Tuesday, a storm hit Rio de Janeiro and flooded Edisen and its surroundings, to the point that employees were unable to leave the site and the next day they had to work from another Petrobras property, in the north of Rio.
The building on Rua do Senado was built by WTorre Engenharia, opened in 2013, and then leased by the state-owned company. The building has the capacity to house 10,000 people and according to sources, it has a pool to drain the rain, but the storm was very strong and did not give any flow.
