Flooding blocks Régis Bittencourt in both directions at Embu das Artes

Due to the heavy rains that hit Greater São Paulo between the night of Tuesday (31st) and the morning of Wednesday (1st), the Régis Bittencourt Highway is closed due to flooding near the city of Embu das Artes, in both directions .

The lanes have been closed at km 276 on the BR-116/SP since 8:30 pm on Tuesday. At the moment, only trucks and trailers can pass through the stretch. Arteris Régis Bittencourt, the concessionaire responsible for the highway, said that there is no forecast for reopening the roads.

The company also said that it acts from the beginning of the situation to service, signal and guide users in the face of the total blockade.

According to the statement, a wall of a work located outside the concession section was hit by the storm and ended up giving way, reaching the flow of the drainage gallery connected to the highway and compromising the flow of water.

Technicians from the Arteris maintenance and conservation area, together with professionals from the city hall, analyze the site to define the necessary interventions.

The dealership also said that there are no victims and that it continues with operational teams on the road to provide support.
