Floods in India have forced a couple to set sail for their wedding in a giant pot

When the floods hit hard southern India, it seemed that a young couple could not do their wedding. However, they managed to reach the temple by floating in the flooded streets in a giant metal pot.

The Akash and Aishwarya they were apparently determined not to miss their big day in the village Thalavady.

The couple, identified by local media as health workers in the city Αλαπούζα of South India, seems to be smiling and greeting in his ritual clothes, as two men were walking in the water to direct their container to the temple and next to them a photographer was capturing the scene. The photos of the couple on their makeshift boat were later widely shared on social media.

The bride and groom had planned to get married in the temple Thalavadi Panayannoorkavu Devi in Αλαπούζα on Monday, according to a report by the state news agency YEARS.

Wearing traditional garlands around their necks for wedding ceremonies they were married in a Hindu ritual with only a small number of guests.

Heavy rains in Kerala have caused severe flooding and landslides. Rivers overflowed and bridges and roads were swept away – in some cases entire towns and villages have been cut off.

His wedding venue Akash and her Aishwarya, a small temple in Thalavady who agreed to perform the ceremony, also partially flooded during the ceremony.

The couple borrowed the aluminum cookware from another local church and asked men who were pulling them on the streets to help drive the boat.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least 22 places on Friday. THE Kerala suffered its worst floods in an entire century in 2018, in which at least 400 people were killed, while another 200,000 were forced to flee the area unharmed.
