The São Paulo Social Fund (FUSSP) and the state Civil Defense started a campaign to collect donations to help victims of the heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul in recent days.
According to authorities, currently the most needed items are drinking water, cleaning products such as detergent, soap, brooms and buckets, as well as personal hygiene items such as soap, toothpaste and shampoo.
Collection points
The population can take donations to the FUSSP depository, located at Avenida Marechal Mário Guedes, 301, in the Jaguaré neighborhood, in São Paulo. The place is open from 8am to 5pm. It is also possible to leave donations at Poupatempo stations from this Monday (06).
Donations will be sent by plane to Caxias do Sul, where there will be a logistics center to distribute the items to the most affected regions.
So far, three trucks of FUSSP donations have already been sent to Rio Grande do Sul. The expectation is that the first planes with supplies will arrive in the State this Sunday.
Donations at the Post Office
The entire network of Correios branches in São Paulo and Paraná, in addition to part of the units in Rio Grande do Sul, will receive from the second (6) donations for victims of the rains that devastate the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The state-owned company will collect and transport donations free of charge, at no cost to donors. According to the Post Office, the following items are accepted — considered to be those most needed at the moment by Civil Defense:
- Basic food basket
- Personal hygiene products
- Dry hygiene material
- Clothing Items
In addition, the Post Office will also donate clothing items and household items to those affected by the rains.
These donations are objects of waste, that is, they have undergone all delivery attempts, have not been sought by recipients or senders and have already exceeded the 90-day deadline for complaints provided for in the Consumer Protection Code.
