Five accused in the death of Pastor Anderson do Carmo will be tried on Tuesday (12). The defendants in this trial are Flordelis’ biological son, Adriano dos Santos Rodrigues; the affective children André Luiz de Oliveira, and Carlos Ubiraci Francisco da Silva, former PM Marcos Siqueira Costa and his wife Andrea Santos Maia.
On May 9, at the second session of the jury, starting at 9 am, in addition to Flordelis, his biological daughter Simone dos Santos Rodrigues will be judged; her granddaughter, Rayane dos Santos Oliveira; and affective daughter Marzy Teixeira da Silva.
Flordelis remains imprisoned in the Talavera Bruce penitentiary, in the Gericinó Complex.
Due to the number of defendants in the process, Judge Nearis do Santos Carvalho Arce, from the 3rd Criminal Court of Niterói, chose to divide the trial into two sessions.
On November 24, 2021, the Jury Court of Niterói sentenced Flávio dos Santos Rodrigues, biological son of former federal deputy Flordelis, to 33 years, 2 months and 20 days of imprisonment in a regime initially closed for consummated triple qualified murder, illegal possession of a firearm, use of an ideologically false document and armed criminal association. He was denounced as the author of the firearm shots that caused the death of Pastor Anderson do Carmo de Souza, husband of the former parliamentarian, who died on June 16, 2019.
In the same trial session, Lucas Cezar dos Santos de Souza, Flordelis’ adopted son, was sentenced to nine years in prison in an initially closed regime for triple qualified murder. He was accused of having been responsible for acquiring the weapon used in the pastor’s murder.
The nine defendants who are yet to be tried are also accused of involvement in the death of Pastor Anderson do Carmo. Anderson do Carmo was shot dead in the early hours of June 16, 2019, in the garage of the family’s home in Pendotiba, Niterói. According to the police, before the execution, those involved had already tried to kill the pastor by poisoning.
