Former federal deputy Flordelis dos Santos Souza is sharing a cell with her biological daughter Simone dos Santos Rodrigues. The two were convicted of the murder of Pastor Anderson do Carmo, husband of Flordelis, and are in the Talavera Bruce penitentiary, in Complexo de GericinĂ³, in Rio de Janeiro.
The daughter was transferred to the penitentiary where her mother was, shortly after the trial of the two, which took place in November 2022.
However, they still couldn’t stay together or even keep in touch. Two weeks after the trial, Judge Nearis dos Santos lifted this ban and, since then, the two have occupied the same cell.
According to information obtained from Flordelis’ defense, the former congresswoman has had constant episodes of fainting spells and seizures and is not living in a place suitable for her medical needs.
Flordelis was sentenced to 50 years and 28 days in prison for triple murder, attempted double murder, in addition to using a false document and armed criminal association.
His daughter Simone was sentenced to 31 years and 4 months in prison for triple homicide, attempted double homicide and armed criminal association. The trial lasted more than six days.
THE CNN tried to contact the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat, but did not receive a response until the publication of this article.
