Florence Pugh Says Shaving Her Hair Left Her Body ‘A Little Traumatized’

The British actress Florence Pugh revealed that shave his head for his latest role in the cinema was a “really bizarre” experience and that his body was “a little traumatized”.

The 28-year-old actress had to change her look for “We Live in Time,” a heartwarming romance in which she stars alongside Andrew Garfield.

The film follows the couple over a decade-long relationship, which changes forever after a medical diagnosis.

In an interview with British Vogue published on Wednesday (18), Pugh revealed that the dramatic haircut triggered a physical and emotional response in her.

“In many religions, hair is the most precious thing on the body – it is where you store your memories, your dreams and your history. [Raspar a cabeça] It was really bizarre,” Pugh said.

“My head was so sensitive and so many people were trying to touch it and it was so alive. My body was a little bit traumatized by it. I was cold all the time,” said Pugh, whose character in the film, Almut, is a figure skater turned chef.

Her co-star Garfield was responsible for shaving the actress’s head for the film. He told the magazine that “it was a privilege to be given this job,” although he was nervous.

He said: “What if I somehow destroyed the head of one of the greatest actresses of this generation? It was scary, but ultimately it was a very beautiful and intimate scene to film and thank God she has a beautifully shaped melon.”

Pugh said the role came at the right time in her career.

“I was going through so many renewals [estéticas] “while also going through life decisions,” she said. “I was like, ‘Cool, well, I don’t look like me. I’ve changed. I’m changing.’ Looking back on that summer, I was transforming into something new.”

Pugh also revealed that she is in a new relationship, but did not mention the name of her new love.

She said: “We’re discovering who we really are. And I think for the first time, I’m not allowing myself to go on a rollercoaster. I’m allowing myself to take time to let something evolve and let it be completely real at its core, rather than rushing into it.”

Pugh previously dated actor Zach Braff, with the couple having a 21-year age gap. Pugh hit back at criticism of her relationship in an interview with the Sunday Times in 2021, saying: “It’s my life and I’m not doing anything to please people or to make a better headline or story.”

When asked about that relationship, she told Vogue: “The relationship with Zach was pretty private until it got ugly, and I could see the toll it was taking on him, on us, and on our families. And that’s when I stood up for myself. I think with anyone I’m with, I want to protect them.”

“It’s not nice to know that people are saying the worst things I’ve ever read about someone I love. So this was necessary. I needed to talk about it. I think any relationship that’s in the spotlight is going to be stressful,” she added.
