In the wake of the Uvalde, Texas elementary school massacre, an eleven-year-old boy attending the Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral, Florida, threatened to carry out a new massacre. His text message, however, was quickly reported by the school and made it to the Lee County Sheriff’s office, Carmine Marceno, who immediately initiated the investigation.
“My team didn’t hesitate a second – not a second – to investigate this threat,” said the sheriff, who is handling the case with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Youth Services.
Investigators handcuffed and arrested the 11-year-old accused of threatening – with a text message – a mass shooting, then questioned him. Sheriff Marceno has defined student behavior as “repulsive”above all because only a few days have passed since the massacre in which 19 children and two of their teachers died.
