Flu Vaccination is released for general population in RS

The flu vaccine is available from this Friday (16), for all people more than six months old in Rio Grande do Sul. According to the State Department of Health, more than 703 thousand doses are being distributed to municipalities.

The recommendation goes to the people of priority groups, mainly, make the dose, including children from six months to six years, elderly and pregnant women.

According to the secretary, more than 1.4 million people have already vaccinated against the flu this year in Rio Grande do Sul. Which represents a 28.5% coverage among children, elderly and pregnant women. The goal is to reach 90% vaccination coverage between these groups.

The gaucho government said it has already distributed approximately 3.9 million doses to municipalities. In all, the Ministry of Health should send to RS about 5 million doses this year.

This year, 37 deaths due to influenza virus infection have already been reported, according to the secretary. Of these, 25 were among the elderly and two among children under five.
