About two months after the SPD elections, the Greens and the FPD are now discussing ministries. Focus sees Foreign Minister Christian Lindner and Foreign Minister Anne Berbock.
Negotiations to form a government in Germany with the Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens (Die Grunen) and the Liberals (FPD) are in the final stages of announcing that they will sign an agreement next week on the priorities of their four-year rule.
However, all indications are that despite the ongoing tough negotiations between the three parties, the three parties are within the timetable set for October 21 when contacts began and that election winner and Chancellor Olaf Soltz will be elected chancellor in the week after December 6th.
The most crucial question at this stage is who will take over the most government post. Over the weekend, various lists of ministers began circulating in the German media. So far, however, there has been no confirmation from the three parties.
Christian Lindner a supporter of Maastricht rules
In an exclusive article, Focus magazine publishes a list of names of ministers today, but makes it clear that negotiations are ongoing and that there may be changes in government offices in the coming days. Most likely, however, the top positions in the next German government have been locked:
According to the German magazine, the Ministry of Finance will be taken over by the president of the Liberals, Christian Lindner, a supporter of the Maastricht fiscal rules and the restraint of the public debt. A Green Ministry of Economy is planned for Co-Chair of the Greens Robert Hubek, which will include the Climate Change sector, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will go to the also Co-Chair of the Greens, Analena Berbok.
Government coalition in eight years
In the other ministries: For the Ministry of Interior is appointed the current Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht from the SPD, for the Ministry of Health the liberal Michael Toirer, for the Ministry of Labor the Social Democrat Hubertus Heil and for the Ministry of Defense F. Amer .
In a statement, future Chancellor Olaf Solz stressed that the ruling coalition of Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals is being formed in eight years: “When we agree on the people who will form the new government, then our goal will be to be re-elected.” Speaking to the Suddeutsche Zeitung, Liberal leader Christian Lindner agreed: “It would be good to form a governing coalition for re-election. Otherwise there will be intra-government competition, which will primarily affect the government.”
