The founder of Gefsinos, Manolis Vavourakis, enters the field of trade and distribution of packaged food in order to participate in public tenders, as he confirms speaking to Capital.gr.
The new company that was created a few days ago, bears the distinctive title Foodbin and it is also attended by Elias Kakogiannis, also active in the field of catering and ready meals, head of the company Korinthian Palace Catering SA.
The headquarters of the new company created by the two businessmen is located in Kryoneri, at the exact same address as Manolis Vavourakis’s Gefsinous.
The mega feeding project of the refugee camps in which Gefsinous participates
M. Vavourakis is the owner of Gefsinos, which is active in the field of catering and in the production and distribution of ready meals. Recently, his business was run by contractors, through the consortium that participated in the large food project of the refugee camps on behalf of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.
In this project, Gefsinous participated in a joint venture with the two companies of the Vivartia group, Hellenica Catering and Olympic Catering as well as with the company Elaitis, submitting a bid of a total amount of 290 million euros for part of the project.
The total estimated value of this framework agreement amounts to a total of 102.96 million euros per year (excluding VAT) and it involves other companies – in addition to the above – for other parts of the project. In fact, this project can reach a budget of up to 823.67 million euros depending on refugee flows.
Examining the financial data of the individual companies maintained by the two entrepreneurs, the turnover of the Gefsinos group amounted to 31.62 million euros in 2020, compared to 41.9 million euros in the pre-pandemic year, ie 2019. Profits after taxes amounted to 278.7 thousand euros respectively compared to 416.58 thousand euros in 2019.
What is the Korinthian Palace Catering of Elias Kakogiannis
For his part, Elias Kakogiannis is the head of Korinthian Palace Catering SA, a company that maintains canteens in hospitals and educational institutions of the country under the commercial title, Famealiar.
Some of the hospitals or educational institutions in which he manages the canteens are the NIMITS Hospital, the University of Peloponnese, the General Hospital of Filiates and the Health Center of Igoumenitsa. The main activity of Korinthian Palace Catering is the provision of catering and catering services with the production and distribution of meals on a nationwide basis.
Turnover for Korinthian Palace was 9.7 million euros with a net profit of 1.8 million euros for 2020 compared to 5.5 million euros with a net profit of 427.6 thousand euros for 2019.
Large food packaging for public bodies and hospitals – In logistics acquisition discussions
According to Mr. Vavourakis, the newly established Foodbin will trade packaged foods in large quantities in order to participate and claim projects that will come from public tenders.
In fact, discussions are currently underway between the two businessmen, in order to proceed with the acquisition of logistics facilities through acquisition, either in Aspropyrgos or Inofyta, where they have identified two facilities that could serve their new business activity.
Among the products that Foodbin will trade will be meat, oils, dairy, baby food, pasta, rice, while its object will include cleaning products, detergents, bedding and clothing.
