Eindhoven-based Dutch football club PSV was the first in the EU to receive Bitcoin sponsorship after signing a partnership with cryptocurrency broker Anycoin Direct.
According to an article in the football club’s blog, the partnership will last for two seasons. The guaranteed amount of sponsorship will be about $ 480,000 per year, regardless of the current cryptocurrency rate. PSV will use the received BTC to solve problems within the club and does not plan to invest it in other projects.
“Although several foreign companies participated in the race for partnership with PSV, PSV deliberately chose a reliable partner from Eindhoven. In the face of Anycoin Direct, PSV has acquired a reliable international partner, but with local roots, ”the club said in a statement.
PSV first entered the cryptocurrency industry in April 2021 when it sold the NFT collection in honor of its 1988 European Cup victory. Commenting on the partnership with Anycoin Direct, Chief Commercial Officer Frank Janssen said:
