For Harry and Meghan Markle, the Jubilee was “the last chance”

That “to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction” was established by Isaac Newton four centuries ago. And everyone knows that the law does not apply only to physics. The Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle however it seems they didn’t remember when they decided to fly to London for Platinum Jubilee from Elizabeth II. They probably thought they would be welcomed as the Prodigal Son is that for the good of the Queen the Windsors would forget all the toads they had to swallow in the last two years.

But that’s not exactly how it went, quite the contrary. “Their they wanted to mend relationshipsbut they hit a wall, ”says the royals-savvy writer Duncan Larcombeaccording to which their trip to London was seen, rather, as “One last chance”.

In fact, i Sussex not only that, during the celebrations, they were kept behind the scenes, appearing in public only at the Thanksgiving feature to which all the relatives, near and far, were invited, but above all they were “Checked on sight” in fear that their stay in London would end up – with the same one behind the scenes – in theirs docuseries for Netflix.

The cameras of the streaming giant – which had already done so raise more than one eyebrow to the Royal Family for his version of family events given in the series The Crown – had been strictly prohibited in and around Buckingham Palace, as well as any highly anticipated photographer meeting between Elizabeth II and little Lilibet Diana.

To backfire against the Sussexes, then, there was also the much heralded security issue: Harry, that he had not gone to the ceremony in memory of his grandfather Filippo complaining about an alleged “lack of adequate protection for him and his family in Great Britain ”, this time he was satisfied and protected. On the contrary, hyper protected: so much so that it is always under sight, that it cannot move on its own e you can’t get away from Windsor. Security reasons, of course.

In short, for the Sussexes, returning to London was not exactly a relaxing holiday. To Harry, anyway you can see it on his face, in the very rare photos in which it appeared. So much so that the Royal Watchers even hypothesize a slight depression. But he was probably alone disappointment: at home he felt treated like a student in the most important test. And as far as he knows he’s done basically well, he knows the exam isn’t over yet.

“On the contrary, the real exam for Harry and Meghan starts now”adds Larcombe. In London they were kept in check, but it is time that they are far away that they have to go straight: «If they thought they were mending relations with the family and then showing themselves to the various Netflix And Spotify as a royal in all respects once again, it went badly “, comments the expert:” On the contrary, their future in the royal family will depend on how they behave from now on. They walk on a minefield: at the first leak of news the olive branch they brought to London will break. Now they have to prove that the family can trust them“. The hardest part will be regaining the trust of William. The person closest to Harry and who most of all has suffered for this whole situation.
