According to Roskomnadzor (RKN), the social network Facebook has been recognized as involved in the violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, so access to it will be partially limited. To be more precise, for failure to comply with the requirements to unblock the accounts of four Russian media outlets, the agency began to slow down the traffic of the social network in Russia.
“In accordance with the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the social network Facebook, starting from February 25, 2022, Roskomnadzor, in accordance with the law, is taking measures to partially restrict access in the form of slowing down traffic,” the RKN said in a statement published on the agency’s website.
Earlier it became known that Facebook blocked the official accounts of four Russian media outlets: the Zvezda TV channel, the RIA Novosti news agency, and the online media Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru. The management of Meta Platforms, which owns the Facebook network, ignored the request of the ILV to remove the restrictions and explain their reason.
