For real connoisseurs: electric retro cabriolet introduced in Germany

The German independent company Wiesmann for many years could not please loyal fans with something interesting, but now the time has come – the manufacturer has officially announced work on the Project Thunderball electric retro convertible. It is worth noting that earlier the company actively used motors from BMW, but now it was decided to switch to electric power plants – anyway, in a few years it will have to be done. Accordingly, the new electric car has two electric power plants, but both are located on the rear axle, so the vehicle will be rear-wheel drive.

And although the Project Thunderball is not the first rear-wheel drive electric convertible in history (there was an original Tesla Roadster), the manufacturer decided to keep the classic exterior and interior design of the novelty. For example, on the front side of the vehicle you can see an impressive branded radiator grille, as well as stylish headlights, typical for a car of the last century. The same decorative elements can be seen on the back of the convertible – the company’s designers have worked hard to preserve all the characteristic features of the brand. However, this did not prevent the car from being made quite powerful, although this cannot be said from its appearance.

The fact is that the total power of the power plants is 680 horsepower with a torque of 1100 Nm. Due to this, an electric convertible is able to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 2.9 seconds, which, with a mass of 1.7 tons, is very worthy. True, the manufacturer has not yet said anything about the maximum power of its electric car, but this is probably the least of the concerns of potential buyers. Yes, and I would like to see the acceleration of this model, only on all-wheel drive – it would be possible to set a much more impressive record. At the same time, it boasts a power reserve of 500 kilometers, but the manufacturer, again, does not report by which method the measurements were taken.

And, unfortunately, Wiesmann representatives are not ready to name the price of their electric cabriolet in the style of the 80s, as well as at least an approximate date for the start of sales, equipment, or even the total circulation.
