For sale the house that belonged to Henry VIII

It was 1535 when the Chobham Park House was purchased by Henry VIII and soon after the purchase the king had his park extended to 500 acres. It is thought that the king held the manor for his own use before his daughter, Queen Mary, sold the property to his chancellor, Nicholas Heath, Archbishop of York, in 1558. Now that same estate, 50km from London, is in sale.

There Chobham Park Houseclassified as Grade II, was in its time a manor house, a royal hunting lodge, a gentleman’s country residence, a rented farm, a large country house and now, once again, is the heart of a pristine country estate.

Henry VIII’s estate was enclosed by a swamp, which gave it the right to be called a ‘park’ as it was marked as a deer park on John Norden’s 1610 map. The current owners bought Chobham Park House in 1996 and made changes. and significant improvements.

Adjacent to the main house is the coach house which today offers storage for four cars, a gym and a games room on the first floor.

Along the courtyard is a barn converted into an office with a meeting room, complete with a living room, utility room, kitchen and cloakroom.

The price? 15 million pounds.
