For the daughter of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, the party’s over

Since the beginning of the war, Roman Abramovich he got agitated. Not to save Ukraine, even if it has taken a stand against the war, but above all to avoid sanctions. Last week he announced plans to put Chelsea up for sale. Behind the scenes, it was learned that his Kensington, London mansion was also up for sale, as were most of his properties in the city. She then sailed her yacht from the Dutch port where she was moored to international waters, where she cannot be impounded.

But the British government has not fallen into the oligarch’s game. Earlier this week, Liz Truss, Boris Johnson’s foreign secretary, announced that Roman Abramovich and his assets were a priority target of sanctions against Russian oligarchs in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine. The sale of his club has been suspended. From Monday 14 March, the Chelsea boss could have his assets confiscated and the whole family could be placed under house arrest.

This is bad news for Sophia Abramovich, the third daughter of Roman. The 27-year-old economics graduate from London’s Royal Holloway will no longer be able to go on holiday to St Bartholomew, in the Caribbean, where her father owns a 70-hectare estate. She will certainly miss the enchanting landscape: Sofia Abramovich regularly publishes photos of her holidays on the island, but also of her from her jet-set parties in Ibiza and the Maldives, far from the greyness of London.

Another thing the young heiress might miss is parties at the Beckhams’ house. The ex-footballer, who has been desperately trying to be knighted for ten years, is unlikely to let his children party with the Abramovichs.

Sofia Abramovich can however console herself by dedicating herself entirely to her passion: horse riding. The equestrian, who represented Russia in the official show jumping competitions in London, should logically take the road to Fyning Hill, West Sussex, where her mother Irina – one of her former mothers Irina – one of Roman Abramovich’s ex-wives – enjoys the 425-hectare estate that was returned to her in a divorce.
