For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, Rio does not record death by Covid-19

The Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro (SMS-RJ) reported this Sunday (21) that the state capital did not record any deaths from Covid-19. It is the first time this has happened in the city since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the folder, the data refers to the last Saturday (20). The SMS also reported that there was no record of hospitalization for the disease in municipal hospitals.

According to the secretariat, the advance of vaccination was responsible for the index.

“This news, which fills our hearts with hope, is the result of cariocas’ adherence to vaccination. It’s real: vaccines save lives!”, published the SMS on their social networks.

In the same publication, the folder called for the population of Rio to complete the vaccination schedule.

“Whoever is 12 years old or more and has not yet taken the second dose must go to the health center with proof to update the vaccination schedule. Those who are 18 years old or older, and who took the second dose 5 months ago or more, also need to go to the units to guarantee the booster dose. The same goes for someone who is 60 years old or older and who has been vaccinated for at least three months. Prepare your arm and #SóVem!”.

Currently in the city of Rio, 99.9% of the population over 18 years old has already taken at least one dose or a single dose of the vaccine and 95.2% of this age group have already taken both doses. Regarding the vaccine population, which is from 12 years old, 76.6% already have the two doses in their arms.

There are 5,0025,791 people vaccinated with the second dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 and 1,050,655 who received the booster dose against the disease
