For TVs with Google TV, a non-discharging remote was developed. It feeds on room lighting

Many users around the world feel uncomfortable when using a TV remote control because the batteries (or the built-in battery) can “die” at any time. And if there is no replacement at hand, then using even the most advanced TV becomes quite problematic, and TW Electronics decided to change this. The brand’s developers at CES 2023 presented a unique remote control for Google TV that will never run out of power – it’s all about a special recharging technology that will forever leave replaceable AA batteries and chargers in the past.

The main advantage of the new remote control from TW Electronics is a self-charging battery based on a photovoltaic panel from the Swedish company Exeger in the gadget’s body. This is a kind of analogue of a solar panel, only a photovoltaic analogue is able to charge the built-in battery of the remote control even indoors without direct sunlight – enough natural light. Although this is not the first such remote, because Samsung already has its own solution with a similar advantage, the brand for the first time presented a solution specifically created for Google TV. Unfortunately, so far the manufacturer does not even name an approximate release date, but the idea of a fully autonomous remote control for a TV looks very attractive.
