Ford has released a new generation of Mondeo: cars are sold in China, but not in the USA

Some time ago, the first spy photos of the new Ford sedan appeared on the Internet, and yesterday, January 17, the manufacturer held an official presentation of the new generation Mondeo. However, the event can only be called a presentation in part – a company from the USA showed only the body of the car and spoke about the dynamic characteristics, while no one began to show the interior. However, the exterior of the novelty turned out to be interesting enough that no one paid attention to the interior – the company literally remade almost everything that the designers’ hands reached.

For example, the front of the car was equipped with a rather stylish and large grille, above which a whole horizontal strip of navigation lights passes. It looks very stylish and modern, plus there are practically no similar solutions on the market – usually a single backlight strip is installed at the back. The hood, windshield and roof of the new Mondeo are somewhat reminiscent of similar elements in the Mustang, and the door handles are hidden in the body of the car – if necessary, they leave the doors, giving the user the opportunity to open it, but in the process of driving they hide, thereby improving aerodynamics.

At the rear, the car was adorned with rather daring brake lights with three vertical lines, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and a solid red stripe from edge to edge. There are also chrome-plated exhaust pipes (although they perform an exclusively decorative function). In terms of technical characteristics, the car, of course, cannot boast of anything incredible – it uses a 2-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 246 horsepower with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. In the future, the manufacturer promises to expand the range of engines, but, of course, you should not expect any exorbitant speeds from the sedan.

And the most surprising thing about the fifth generation Ford Mondeo is that the car of the legendary American company will not be sold in the United States – in its native country, the manufacturer has long abandoned all variations of sedans. In Russia, of course, Ford sedans also stopped selling back in the spring of 2019, and models in Europe will soon face a similar fate. Accordingly, the stylish fifth generation will be sold only in China – in the same place, in fact, the novelty is assembled (at its own Changan Ford plant).
