Ford promises to fully switch to electric vehicles in Europe by 2030

Ford is actively pursuing an electrification strategy in Europe. The automaker announced that by mid-2026, all of its passenger cars on offer in this market will be all-electric or hybrid. And by 2030, all consumer models will be fully electric. In the commercial segment, the company plans to keep only plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or all-electric vehicles in its lineup by 2030. This is one of the most aggressive plans to move to electric vehicles.

The plan is underpinned by a decision to invest $ 1 billion in Ford’s Cologne assembly plant, which will allow the first all-electric model to begin production within the next two years. It is part of the company’s recently announced commitment to allocate $ 29 billion for electric and autonomous vehicles by 2025.

It remains to add that the decision to retool the plant in Germany was made against the backdrop of significant cost cuts for Ford in Europe as a whole. The company has already sold some of its factories, eliminating more than 10,000 jobs. The hard cut helped Ford return to profit in Europe in the fourth quarter of last year.
