Monday (13) should start with intense frosts in the South and Southeast of Brazil, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
The morning should be colder in regions of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina.
In Campos de Cima da Serra (RS), Planalto Sul, Midwest and Planalto Norte (SC) and in the south of Paraná, the forecast is for heavy frost.
Frost happens when dew freezes on the surface. It can reach different intensities and it is necessary that the air temperature reaches 0°C.
There is forecast of heavy or moderate frost in other regions of the Serras do Rio Grande do Sul, west of Santa Catarina and southeast of PR.
According to Inmet, in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, there is a forecast of light frost in Serra da Mantiqueira.
In Vale do Itajaí (SC) and in the metropolitan region of Curitiba (PR), the institute informs that there may be light frost.
On Sunday, the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná, in addition to the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, registered intense cold and frosts that “froze” areas of Rio Grande do Sul. See images:
