Foreign Minister: Turkey’s accusations about the islands also lack common sense

The total rejection of the accusations about the militarization of the Greek islands, which was again addressed by the Turkish Foreign Minister M. In addition, Mr. Papaioannou pointed out that a relevant letter has been sent by the Permanent Representative of Greece to the UN to the Secretary General of this Organization.

He reiterated that “similarly, Greece rejects the Turkish unilateral objections to the delimitation of the continental shelf in the Eastern Mediterranean, objections which ignore, once again, the fundamental rules of International Law, and in particular the International Law of the Sea.

Concluding, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that “these allegations, among other things, are based on a non-existent, invalid and illegal memorandum” and stressed that “Greece remains committed to the principles of International Law and is willing to conduct a constructive dialogue with Turkey. , on the basis of these principles “.

It is noted that earlier today, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu again accused Greece of violating the demilitarization regime of the islands.
