Foreign Minister: Two Greek expatriates dead in Eastern Ukraine – Two more injured

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the sudden death of two expatriates and the serious injury of two others in the village of Granitna, which is located near the contact line in Eastern Ukraine.

According to the available information cited by the Foreign Minister, responsible for the double murder are three soldiers of the Ukrainian army, who got involved with the above expatriates for an insignificant reason.

At the same time, shortly before, the Foreign Minister announced that he was advising Greek citizens to leave Ukraine immediately, against the background of the escalating military situation in the former Soviet Union, with Russia having gathered tens of thousands of troops both on the Russian-Ukrainian border and there. of Belarus with Ukraine.

How the murder happened

Speaking to Realfm 97.8, the incident was described by journalist Costas Onishenko, who is Ukrainian but lives and works in Greece.

According to him, the first information indicates that the bloody incident, in which two other expatriates were injured, has nothing to do with the current tension on the border with Russia, where Russian forces are concentrated. The journalist also noted that it was not an action aimed at Greek expatriates, who were members of the Greek minority in Ukraine.

According to the first information, everything happened on Sunday afternoon in a cafe in the area and everything shows that it is an episode between two groups having fun in a tavern, drinking alcohol.

“There were two groups in a shop. One group, that of the Ukrainian soldiers, had said, possibly the second, but the results of the toxicological tests are awaited. “A second group, including people of Greek descent, members of the Greek community. A serious quarrel ensued, someone pulled out a gun and two people were killed,” said Costas Oniseknko.

Regarding the latest events in Ukraine, government sources note that in case of negative developments, they will affect our country a lot, as well as the whole of Europe. “The government is preparing for all possible scenarios,” they said.
