Foreign investors withdrew BRL 1.74 billion from the Brazilian stock exchange on April 29, according to the balance of the trading session released this Tuesday (3) by B3, which raised the outflow of funds in the month to BRL 7.68 billion. .
The result in April represents the first monthly negative balance of 2022, although in the year the indicator shows an inflow of R$ 60.68 billion.
The monthly data on the entry and withdrawal of funds by foreigners in 2021 are under review by B3, after the Brazilian stock exchange operator discovered a methodology error, disclosed in April.
On Friday (29), the Ibovespa dropped 1.86%, having accelerated losses at the end of the trading session.
Some analysts cited strong flow as one of the influences on the index’s movement in the session.
The inflow of foreign funds was seen as an important reason for the strong rise that the Ibovespa came to accumulate in 2022, before erasing much of the gains last month.
The Ibovespa registers an advance of about 2% in the year, after having shot up to 16% earlier in 2022.
