The desperate scream of a mother took over the front of the 38th DP (Brás de Pina), in the North Zone of Rio, on the morning of Wednesday (7). The woman was crying while watching her son arrested by agents after participating in a bus robbery.
“Forgive me, guys. I didn’t raise my son for it. I’m sorry, please,” the woman begged, thrilled.
The outburst, made in the presence of the victims of the robbery and the reporting teams that covered the case, moved those who followed the scene. In the midst of crying, she asked, “Is that the gift you gave me on Mother’s Day?” In despair, he even passed out and was supported by family members.
Her son is Dilson Pimenta Ramos da Silva Costa, 18. He was arrested in the act alongside Marcelo Barbosa de Oliveira, 19, after participating in a robbery of a bus from the Cabuçu x Castelo line, at the time of Irajá, towards Centro, on Avenida Brasil.
The robbery
The crime occurred early Wednesday morning (7) and was recorded in videos made by passengers inside the collective. In the images, the driver appears jumping from the bus, while the occupants, in a panic, try to calm the robbers. One of the victims shouts, “Deliver, surrender. They won’t kill you. Soon you are loose.”
Shortly thereafter, teams from the Expressed Policing Battalion (BPVE) arrived at the scene and arrested the two suspects in the act. With them, nine stolen cell phones and a revolver used to threaten passengers were seized.
The occurrence was recorded in the 38th DP (Brás de Pina).
In a statement, the Federation of Mobility Companies in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Semove) lamented what happened and stressed that, once again, workers and public transport users were submitted to violence. The entity stressed the importance of the collaboration of the population with information through the Denunciation Dial.
