Former Foreign Minister N. Christodoulidis is an independent candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Cyprus

Former Cypriot Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulidis has announced his independent candidacy for the presidency of the Republic of Cyprus.

With an internet message and the slogan “Power that unites us”, Mr. Christodoulidis announced his intention to claim the anointing of the President in the upcoming elections to be held in Cyprus in March 2023.

“With full awareness of the enormous responsibility, with respect for the historical course of the Cypriot Hellenism, with clear goals for the European future of our country, I announce my independent candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus. I send a sincere message, but also my own My promise to every citizen of this country: I will do my best to go to the polls together, in a unifying process of renewal, perspective and hope. “Christodoulidis said that the challenges, the problems, but also the opportunities, the changes that are taking place at the international and regional level, the new data that are being created, require a government that will guarantee the unity of the people and the cooperation of all.

He said that the government that will be formed, if the citizens honor him with their vote, will include the most capable, regardless of political, ideological and social background “both those who will vote for me and those who will not.”

Mr. Christodoulidis clarified that he has no intention of founding a political party, while expressing his special gratitude to President Nikos Anastasiadis “for the trust he has shown”. In terms of his political background, among other things, he characterized his close and timeless relations with the world of the Democratic Alarm.

He pointed out, among other things: “The future of Cyprus and the prosperity of our people are non-negotiable for me, and only a government of all creative forces can guarantee it. Hegemony, arrogant attitudes and divisive sermons are a thing of the past and not “The government of Cyprus is a matter for all of us.”
