Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate today on his own initiative.
The eight-year-old former president of the Islamic Republic of Iran had a cordial conversation with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who, among other things, referred to his previous visits to Islamic countries, as part of the ongoing interfaith dialogue, while particularly speaking about his Twenty years ago he paid an official visit to Iran, at the invitation of the then Minister of Culture.
For his part, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad focused his speech on the importance of dialogue between religions and cultures and its good effects on the harmonious coexistence of peoples and nations.
At the end of the meeting, the former President of Iran visited the Patriarchal Temple where he was guided by His Highness James.
