A former student at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie is accused of embezzling R$62,500 from different athletic associations at some universities and using that money to go to Disney.
In a note, the young woman’s defense clarified that: “there has always been a proactive and continuous posture of accountability on the part of the unjustly accused young woman. She has not yet been notified and found out about the inquiry through the press.”
The university student was treasurer of the sports entities, which were planning to travel to play in university games.
According to the accusation of the victims of the case, the young woman would have used her function to divert money to her personal accounts.
Of the total, R$ 4 thousand would have been withdrawn from the Associação Atlética da Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, and another R$ 58.5 thousand diverted from other universities that it also managed expenses.
Victims’ defense also claimed that the young woman has been in that position since September 2022, when the other students began to face some difficulties paying bills.
The university entities claim that they are already receiving charges from suppliers.
Positioning of parts
The Athletic Association of the Faculty of Architecture of Mackenzie stated in a note that, this year, the financial resources for holding the Interfau competition will be maintained but in a reduced way.
The 4th Police District, where the case was registered, announced that it has launched an inquiry, notified all parties involved and is awaiting the testimonies of witnesses.
Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie said it “has no responsibility” for the way that Atléticas are organizing themselves to carry out sports activities.
The defense of the accused student also stated that the current management of Atlética Mackenzie refuses to accept the amount determined by the 2022 management, in relation to Interfau, for disagreeing with this amount and refuses to sign a discharge receipt. “This amount has always been available for transfer”, according to the note.
In addition, the defense reported that the young woman’s personal account was used with the knowledge and consent of the president of the 2022 administration to save bank fees and avoid the practice of previous payments made solely and exclusively in cash.
“As the smear campaign made clear, the young woman does not trust the nature of the current management and will only make the payment upon formal acceptance and signature of the discharge receipt. Or in court. She never used that money.”
About Disney, the defense explained that “there is no version, there is a fact: she was selected in the theme park exchange program in Orlando and, with the help of friends and relatives, in addition to her own salary, spent a season working in the park ”.
