Former Ripple Board Member Receives Pardon From Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has pardoned former Ripple board member and co-founder of the Modern Consensus crypto portal Ken Courson. He was included in the list of 73 persons who received a full pardon this Wednesday. Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht was not on the list, however. His supporters were hoping for a pardon when reports emerged last month that documents in the Ulbricht case were pending with a White House adviser.

“We pray and keep the hope that he will have mercy on Ross, as he pardoned others, shorten his term to the time he has already served and give my son a second chance in life,” Ulbricht’s mother Lin said at the time.

Sources said the president had unofficially expressed sympathy for Ulbricht. In addition, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange were not pardoned, for whom there were also certain expectations.

Curson was arrested last October on charges of cyberbullying his ex-wife.

“In an energetic letter to prosecutors, Courson’s ex-wife wrote in his best interest that she never wanted this investigation or arrest and repeatedly asked the FBI to drop the case,” the pardon notice said.

Trump will officially retain his presidency until noon local time, after which President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in. Until that time, Trump can issue pardon decisions.
