The Supreme Court of Thailand today ruled that former Prime Minister Taksin Sinauatra should serve a year in prison because his detention on a VIP wing of a hospital, instead of prison, was illegal, a decision that is another major blow to a strong family here. The judges ruled that Taksin had no serious illness and that his hospitalization could not be counted on his sentence, adding that the responsibility was not only to the doctors and that the polar billionaire was deliberately extending his stay.
