According to the case materials, Irina Dilkinska, along with Ruja Ignatova and Carl Sebastian Greenwood, was one of the top managers of the fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme. Dilkinska assisted in conducting transactions through the OneCoin pyramid and money laundering through an offshore company in the Cayman Islands.
The convict admitted her guilt last fall and asked to be placed under house arrest due to the presence of minor children in Bulgaria. However, the petition was rejected by the court. Manhattan District Court Judge Edgardo Ramos ruled that Irina Dilkinska will remain under police supervision for another month after serving her prison sentence.
Let us recall that the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid operated from 2014 to 2016. The project promoted a highly profitable cryptocurrency, in which investors received profit both from the growth of the asset and from attracting new clients. The scheme involved hundreds of investors who believed promises that OneCoin would surpass the Bitcoin network. However, unlike Bitcoin, the OneCoin blockchain did not exist, and investor losses amount to up to $15 billion.
According to Bulgarian media, the co-founder of the OneCoin cryptocurrency pyramid, Ruzha Ignatova, known as the “Crypto Queen,” was killed in 2018 on the order of a certain drug lord. Earlier, Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of Ruzha Ignatova, was released from prison after spending 34 months there for participating in the OneCoin fraudulent scheme worth $4.4 billion.
