Two of Donald Trump’s top election lawyers, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, turned themselves in to police this Wednesday (23) on charges in the case of electoral subversion in the state of Georgia, in the United States.
Powell and Giuliani are among those involved in the alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 Georgia election results.
Kenneth Chesebro, who engineered the plot in the Trump campaign that there were fake voters, also surrendered.
The scene of Giuliani, former mayor of New York and notable former federal attorney, entering the Fulton County jail is a defining moment in the case in which Trump is investigated for actions to annul his electoral defeat to Joe Biden in 2020.
One of Trump’s most outspoken lawyers of 2020, Giuliani was charged with 13 crimes, including violating the state’s racketeering law, engaging in multiple criminal conspiracies, and soliciting a state official to violate his oath.
Giuliani agreed to post $150,000 bond after flying to Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday. Powell agreed to pay $100,000.
Former President Donald Trump is due to turn himself in on Thursday after agreeing to a $200,000 bail. He will leave his Bedminster golf club in the afternoon and return to New Jersey after his surrender.
