Former Turkish consul in Komotini: Greece is right about the Aegean islands

“Greece is right,” said Ambassador Jalim Eralp in an honor in honor of Turkey.

Eralp served as an adviser to Mesut Yilmaz and Tansu Ziller. He served in the Turkish Permanent Mission to the United Nations and NATO, in the embassies of Washington and New Delhi. Between 1969-71 he was consul in Komotini. He was a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1983-1987). He is the president of the Daphne Association, which promotes Greek-Turkish friendship.

Eralp in an interview stressed that the Aegean islands belong to Greece. He argued that opposing this would make Turkey an “aggressive state”.

“Whether we like it or not, Lausanne has given Greece islands outside the three-mile zone. Throwing in empty phrases like ‘our islands are occupied’ is not enough. Because if you say that, some others will say go and “Take the deserted islands,” says Eralp.

Of course, TRT is attacking him, of course for the benefit of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Throughout the presentation of Eralp’s statements, the pro-government media emphasizes that he has taken office during the Kemalist CHP governments, while the phrase is typical: “with his attitude and the views he expressed, Yalim Eralp clearly revealed what mentality prevailed for a while in Turkish foreign policy “.
