Former Uruguayan President José Mujica underwent surgery this Saturday (7) at the hospital where he was hospitalized.
In a press conference after the procedure, Mujica’s personal doctor, Raquel Pannone, said that the former president underwent a gastrostomy, a procedure performed to place a tube directly into the stomach.
According to the doctor, the surgery was successful and had an “excellent” result. She added that Pepe Mujica is recovering accompanied by his wife, Lucía Topolansky.
