The cover of the book celebrating AD 40 years

AD’s journey began in May of 1981 as an Italian version of Architectural Digest. An extraordinary journey for many reasons. Starting with the name, which came to mind a Ettore Mocchetti, director of the magazine for thirty-seven years, and the choice of the logo, now adopted by all international newspapers, including the American one founded in 1920.

In the book, in addition to the one hundred splendid Italian houses, also the texts of ten great authors representing the hundreds of novelists, poets, critics, journalists who have written for AD in these forty years.

Pens of great value that over the years have told the many themes of the project and lifestyles. Among them Alessandro Baricco, Enzo Biagi, Andrea Camilleri, Piero Chiara, Erri De Luca, Vittorio Gassman, Claudio Magris, Dacia Maraini, Fernanda Pivano, Sandro Veronesi.

The book is on sale at 55 € in the main independent bookstores, online (Amazon, Feltrinelli.it, IBS, Mondadori Store online) and in Mondadori bookstores. “With the book celebrating AD forty years, which also contains the testimonies of the great Directors who ran the magazine, Condé Nast’s commitment to high quality book publishing continues” he comments Alessandro Belloni, Head of Consumer Marketing at Condé Nast Italia.

The November issue – on newsstands from 28 October – also celebrates the magazine’s forty years with forty pages dedicated to some of the most beautiful Italian houses chosen among the hundred that are published in the celebratory book. The choice, as for the book, is arbitrary, but it wants to be a representation of the changing tastes and habits of Italians in terms of interior and architecture. A sort of journey through the history of AD and our country through the environments, bearing witness to the values, not only aesthetic, that distinguish the Italian spirit.

A special issue that marks an advertising revenue of + 25% YoY.
