This Tuesday (8) the Forum Brasil Diverse 2022 takes place, an initiative that acts as a catalyst for trends aimed at equity, diversity and inclusion in the corporate world and in society. The event will be held by Revista Raça, with the sponsorship and support of several institutions that work with diversity on a daily basis in Brazil and abroad.
In this year’s edition, the topic that will be discussed by personalities and opinion makers from the academic environment of Brazilian companies and other countries will be: “Eight years of the Forum: past, present and future”.
The event intends to rescue advances, main milestones and challenges of the last 20 years in relation to the diversity agenda. Not just with a record perspective, but with a look at the coming decades. The objective is to present what are the challenges of employability of black people and minority groups.
“The pandemic and the murder of George Floyd have accelerated the importance and urgency of discussing racial issues in the world. In the last three years, we went through profound transformations and an unprecedented crisis”, says Maurício Pestana, CEO of Revista Raça.
The specialist in inclusion and diversity also highlights that the Covid-19 pandemic, for example, revealed pre-existing racial inequalities in Brazil that have intensified, affecting black lives in many aspects: education, access to health, food security, access to income and many others. Solutions and alternatives to change this reality will be discussed throughout the event.
The event is a pioneer in bringing together CEOs of large companies and big names in the market, such as Renata Afonso (CEO of CNN Brasil), Christian Gebara (CEO of Vivo / Telefônica Brasil), Tomas Flier (Leader of Google inclusion for EMEA and USA ), Flávia Garcia (Google’s Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Latin America and Canada), Joana Angélica (Rector of the Federal University of Southern Bahia) and Jerry Padoly (Symrise Senior Perfumer in France – the only black perfumer in the world ).
The forum conquered space as a reference in the corporate environment and in terms of content and trends related to inclusion and ESG in Brazil.
The opening of this year’s edition will be under the responsibility of the journalist and presenter of TV Cultura, Adriana Couto. In the early afternoon, Thiago Oliveira, journalist and presenter of Rede Globo, will assume the post. This year, in addition to returning to the face-to-face format, the novelty will be the launch of the book by Maurício Pestana, which tells the complete story of the Forum’s eight years and its contribution to the theme.
Conceived by Pestana, when the executive was in charge of the Secretariat for Racial Equality in the city of São Paulo (SP), the event was born with the aim of understanding how the issue of inclusion and diversity in companies was.
“This year, due to the celebrations of ten years of racial quotas in Brazilian universities and eight years of the forum, we prepared a special gift for the participants of the event, which is the launch of the book telling the story of this pioneering initiative, which fills us with pride. . For all these reasons, it is vital that companies engaged in this new inclusion scenario are present and participate in our movement”, concludes Pestana.
