On his beach Maryland recently discovered the petrified skull of a whale, which is estimated to have lived 12 million years ago, the Calvert Museum of Natural History announced.
The discovery was made last October by Cody Goddard, a researcher who was looking for fossils and shark teeth, the statement said, according to the Athens News Agency.
It is the most complete fossilized whale skull yet found in the Calvert Cliffs area and was named “Cody” in honor of the man who discovered it.
“We felt like we had won the Paleontology World Cup“said Stephen Godfrey, curator of the museum, clarifying that the type of whale.
In the announcement of the museum, it is pointed out that it took about two months to extract and move the 295 kg skull.
