Found Siloam’s fountain: archaeologists believe they made a biblical discovery

Archaeologists believe that a huge ancient construction discovered in Jerusalem could be the place where Jesus healed a blind in the Bible. The Gospels describe how Christ restored a beggar’s vision after sending him to wash in the Siloam fountain in Jerusalem. Archaeologists now seem to have discovered in the heart of the city a monumental barrier that formed the basis for the construction of the Siloam fountain. Specifically, the Director of the Israeli Antiquities Authority (IAA), Ithamar Berko, said the discovery provided a “tangible” link to the place described in the Scriptures. “If to date we could read in the biblical text only about the existence of Siloam’s fountain, now we can see its tangible remnants,” he said. “Behind us is a monumental barrier, huge in size, over 11 meters high, dating 2,800 years ago during the first temple, at the time of the kings of John and Amassia,” he continued.
