Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are tied within the margin of error in four decisive states for the US election, according to a Fox News poll.
New polls show no clear leader in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina.
- Arizona: US Vice President Kamala Harris at 50% to former President Donald Trump’s 49%
- Georgia: Kamala with 50% against Trump’s 48%
- Nevada: Kamala with 50% against Trump’s 48%
- North Carolina: Trump 50% to Kamala’s 49%
Each state poll has a margin of error of plus or minus three points.
In each state, Kamala improved on President Joe Biden’s performance against Trump overall and in terms of being trustworthy on key issues, when compared to previous Fox polls.
But she still trails Trump in all four states by margins of between six and nine points in being trusted to handle the economy.
The economy is the main issue in the election for a plurality in every state.
The picture is more mixed when voters are asked which candidate would do a better job of “fighting for people like you” or “bringing about needed change.”
Kamala has the edge on “fighting for people like you” in Nevada (51% Kamala to 46% Trump), Georgia (50% Kamala to 46% Trump) and Arizona (51% Kamala to 47% Trump), while the two are nearly tied on that score in North Carolina (49% Kamala to 48% Trump).
The two presidential candidates are nearly tied in each state on who would best bring about needed change (Kamala 50% to Trump 47% in Georgia and Nevada, Kamala 50% to Trump 48% in Arizona, and Trump 49% to Kamala 48% in North Carolina).
In both Arizona and Nevada, polls show Democratic Senate candidates leading Republicans: incumbent Democrat Jacky Rosen leads Republican Sam Brown in Nevada 55% to 41%, and Democrat Ruben Gallego leads Republican Kari Lake in Arizona 56% to 41%.
The polls were conducted Aug. 23-26 by telephone and online among about 1,000 voters in each state. They were conducted after the Democratic National Convention and shortly after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out and endorsed Trump.
