Foxconn, a Taiwanese company, announced yesterday that it is in talks with the leadership of the US state of Wisconsin to build an electric vehicle plant. According to Reuters, this is a manifestation of Apple’s manufacturing partner’s desire to diversify its revenue streams.
In May, Foxconn and electric vehicle developer Fisker announced a deal for contract manufacturing of electric vehicles. The partners did not specify the location of the future plant, but the Fisker CEO said the Foxconn site in Wisconsin is a feasible option.
A spokesman for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp said the agency will not comment on any negotiations until the contract is signed.
In April, Foxconn sharply cut back on planned construction of a $ 10 billion plant in Wisconsin, confirming a chilling interest in what former US President Donald Trump once called “the eighth wonder of the world.” This enterprise was supposed to deploy ultra-modern production of flat panel displays.
