France: 1/5 flights from Charles de Gaulle airport will be canceled on Saturday morning

Airlines are expected to cancel a flight at 5am on Saturday at Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport due to the continuation of a strike, while a new notice has been lodged for the weekend of July 9 and 10, according to the General Confederation of Labor. (CGT).

“Due to the absence of a solution to the conflict, airlines are being asked to reduce their flight schedule” between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. local time “by 20% on departures and arrivals at France’s first airport, CDG, northeast of Paris,” he said. the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

The precautionary cancellations, decided by management due to a strike by airport firefighters over pay demands, which is forcing the closure of part of the runways and therefore reducing capacity, reflect a worsening compared to the first two days of the conflict , on Thursday and Friday, when a six o’clock flight had been canceled in the morning at Charles-de-Gaulle.

“The mobilization continues among the firefighters,” who “are not satisfied with the management’s proposals,” said Daniel Berton, the general secretary of the CGT of the ADP Group, operator of Paris airports.

He said the strike would last through the weekend, according to the current notice, while new notices were filed for next weekend, which will mark the start of the school holidays and traditionally sees peak traffic at airports, apart from railway stations and the national roads.
